With these objectives, JICA select proposals from these Japanese entities, based on a review by JICA Brazil.

For Brazil, the Technical Cooperation for JICA Partnership Program must focus on areas:

• Environmental Conservation and Sustainable Development: Environmental issues that not only involved the Amazon region, but also biomes that biodiversity had been threatened, such as Cerrados and Pantanal. The development of the local communities is also a focus of this matter.

• Assistance for socially vulnerable groups: The fact that Brazil have one of the worst rates of distribution of income in the world makes the country deals with serious social issues such as child labour, informal settlement growth, crimes committed by young people and teenagers.

• Community Development, especially in rural areas: Despite Brazil being a country with great farmers, the rural population suffers from lack of access to education, basic infrastructure and hospital care, which results in high rate of infant mortality in rural areas.
